All tours begin with a paddling clinic led by your American Canoe Association Certified Kayak Instructor. This clinic will introduce you to the basics of kayaking and teach you proper boat fitting and paddle strokes. All guides are also Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certified and knowledgeable in local wildlife, history, and ecology. All tours include boat rental, paddle, PFD, and transportation of boats.
This tour includes swimming, crabbing, and marine education as well as kayaking. Perfect for kids! Kids are half price 11 and under when they paddle in a double with an adult. The tour will begin with instruction and proper boat fitting. We will then venture to Zeke's Island to enjoy all the uninterrupted wonders of this uninhabited island. The nature tour ventures out into the flat water of the Fort Fisher basin where there is little or no boat traffic, perfect for kayakers. This salt marsh is 8,000 acres and part of the Colonial Water Birds Nesting Area and the National Estuarine Research Reserve, so it has quite a diversity of bird, marine, and plant life. The sunrise or sunset tours are wonderful for those who love to enjoy the beauty of the sky while watching the wildlife during their feeding time. The temperature is lower at these times, and the birds and other marine animals make their appearance while we watch them in their natural habitat. Masonboro Island is the largest undisturbed barrier island along the southern part of the North Carolina coast, approximately five miles southeast of Wilmington. This 8.4 mile long island encompasses approximately 5,046 acres, but 87 percent of which are marsh and tidal areas. This island is accessible only by boat, and kayaking is the perfect way to explore this pristine barrier island and estuarine system with the bountiful wildlife and plant life. Bald Head is a beautiful island, accessible only by boat, where cars aren't allowed. The day would start early, touring around the islands, stopping lunch (check out our box lunch and gourmet picnic options), and continuing around the island itself viewing the historic lighthouse, bays, and wildlife.
