Kayak Carolina, in Carolina Beach, is currently accepting applications for paid summer internships for 2005.

Kayak Carolina:

Kayak Carolina is Southeastern North Carolina’s premier provider of kayak nature tours, kayak rentals and all levels of kayak skills instruction. We are completely devoted to the sport and lifestyle of kayaking, preservation of nature and environmental education. Our guides are trained by the American Canoe Association and experienced interpretive naturalists. We have over 30 years combined experience in teaching, kayaking and the paddle sports industry.

Description of Iinternship:

Interns will assist in all aspects of Kayak Carolina’s Summer 2005 programs. Interns will assist on guided kayak nature tours, help with kid’s adventure camps (kayaking, fishing, surfing, hiking, marine education), and assist in the day-to-day operation of the kayak shop.

Job Related Responsibilities:

Successful interns are required to participate in guide training, attend all staff meetings, and become certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Training and meetings are unpaid and may require a minimal cost to the intern. Training and meetings will begin in early spring, although the paid internship does not start until the summer.

Applicant Requirements:

Applicants should be currently working on a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Parks and Recreation, or related field. Applicants must be able to work outdoors in hot and humid conditions, doing physically demanding work. Desired qualifications include: positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, interest in working with children, and love of the water!
