As a youth, Gwen spent much of her time exploring the tidepools and rocky coastline of Southern California. Her fascination with these natural ecosystems fostered a desire to pursue a career in Marine Biology. She attended college at California State University, Long Beach, where she obtained a BS in Marine Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Gwen held a position as a marine educator for two years with the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Outreach Department in San Pedro, California before heading out to the east coast. She has recently served as the assistant director for Marine Quest of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a marine science summer program. Gwen is currently working on her Master's degree in Marine Science at UNCW. If she is not hitting the books, you can always find her wading through the marsh collecting mud samples for her research! |
